Learn How to make Pizza from homemade pizza dough. Making homemade pizza from prepared dough is a quick and easy dinner any night of the week.
Follow 3 simple steps to make your own homemade Pizza:
1. Make your own pizza dough with the choice of flour
You can go for Refined flour, Whole wheat flour, Ragi, Nachni, Jwar or any multigrain flour. (choice any - I assure you that you will not compromise on the taste) :)
2. Choose the pizza spread
You can go for homemade or market made. I prefer market made as it is easy and tasty too :) But if you are baking for kids then you can also go for the homemade sauce. I will update the recipe for homemade spread here soon.
3. Choose your topping and Cheese
Choose from variety of topings - Onion, capsicum, olives, corn, chillies etc or keep it simple and bake Margaritas. I prefer adding lot of topics when I bake multigrain base (just to counter the taste of other flours)
Lets get started:
Ingredients:
Refined Flours - 600grams or 41/2 cups
Castor sugar - 4 tsp (taking any sugar or khaand)
Milk - 300 ml or 11/2-2 cups (as much you want the dough to be sticky - keep it manageable)
Butter - 60gms or 1/4 cup
Instant dry yeast - 21/2 tsp
salt - 2 tsp (to taste)
Step 1: Prepare the Dough
Procedure:
Activate yeast in 1/4 cup of water. To activate the yeast take 1/4 cup of slightly warm water and add pinch of sugar and yeast see it grow. Let it stand for few minutes until the yeast is activated. Yeast will form a frothy mixture. Like in the picture below.
Take all the dry ingredients along with the butter and add activated yeast to it. You can also add seasoning if you want your pizza base to have flavor.
Make a soft sticky dough with milk.
Knead well for 8-10 mins - follow pull and stretch method. as shown in the video below:
Test stretch ability , keep the dough in a deep large bowl and cover loosely with a kitchen napkin or towel. Ferment it for 30 minutes till double in size.
Step 2: Roll the dough
Roll the dough in the form of Pizza base or any shape of your choice.Place the base on the properly greased baking tray and make holes with the help of the fork.
Step 3: Add Spread and Fillings
Spread Pizza Pasta sauce on the base. I prefer fun foods and veeba pizza pasta sauce.
Add pizza pasta seasoning. I use KEYA -seasonings. You can use any easily available pizza pasta seasonings.
And finally add the topings of your choice. There are no rules about the kinds of toppings you put on your pizza. Choose ones you love. If you’d like fresh greens or herbs (like arugula or basil) on your pizza, sprinkle them over the pizza right when it comes out of the oven. The residual heat from the pizza will wilt the greens just slightly and bring out their flavor.
Baking on Pizza:
Pre-heat your oven for 30 mins (Do not skip this step)
Bake your pizza in at 180 degree temprature until the crust is browned and the cheese is golden, about 10-15 minutes. If you want, toward the end of the cooking time you can sprinkle on a little more cheese.
Slice hot pizza and serve immediately. Cover leftover pizza tightly and store in the refrigerator. Reheat as you prefer. Baked pizza slices can be frozen up to 3 months.
