Instant Dessert Recipe : Shahi Tukda Recipe

Shahi Tukda is a royal treat to your taste buds at anytime!! This is a Indian spiced bread pudding which is often served with rich and creamy rabdi or condensed milk.

This quick and easy to prepare dessert has nice flavor of saffron and cardamon. You can service it either warm or chilled, both ways it will taste delicious.


Recipe – Makes 9-12 servings
Time – 10 minutes

Ingredients

for Rabri:
  • Water – 4 tablespoon
  • Milk – 2 cups
  • Crushed cardamoms -4
  • Sugar – 8 tablespoons
  • breadcrumb - 1 tbsp
  • Condensed milk – 1/4 cup

For assembling:
  • Whole wheat bread slices – 2
  • Crushed cardamoms – 5
  • Sliced dryfruits
  • cookie cutter (Cut in whatever shape you like)

Preparing Rabri:


1. In a broad thick bottomed pan or sauce pan add milk (preferably full cream milk) and bring to the boil.

2. Keep on boiling the milk till it gets thick.



3. Add breadcrumbs and condensed milk, (again bring it to a boil) - you can make it without condensed milk but you have to cook the milk for longer period and increase the amount of sugar.


4. Switch off flame and add rose water and crushed cardamoms and pista.






5.Keep the rabdi in refrigerator for a couple of hours to thicken


Next Step:

1. Prepare the sugar syrup or chashni. In a pan heat sugar and water and keep stirring until you get one thread consistency. Add caradamom.




2. Use a cookie cutter to carve out beautiful bread pieces for your toast.


3. fry the bread pieces in a teaspoon of ghee each. Brown them from both sides.




4. To serve assemble the toasted bread pieces in the serving plate. Sprinkle little bot of chashni on each bread piece and top them up with chilled rabdi. 
Garnish with sliced almonds.






Are you on diet!!! Noproblem.. Follow below tips to reduce calories of shahi tukda

  • Skip adding chashni if you are watching your diet.
  • Toast bread pieces in oven or toaster to make a low calorie dessert but the taste will be slightly different. (this is just to make the dish, less in calories,)
  • Skip the condensed milk and add jaggery instead for sweetness. Jaggery is the best form of sugar on planet Earth!
  • skip rabri..just add little condensed milk
